Athena Film Festival's "Thinking Beyond the Binary" Panel at Barnard College

On March 12, 2022, Bliss spoke on a panel for Athena Film Festival’s panel, “Thinking Beyond the Binary: Should Gendered Categories Still Exist?" at Barnard College.

This year, the Gotham Awards announced that they would be getting rid of gendered categories for their awards, following the lead of the Grammys and the VMAs, and other award ceremonies. In this discussion, the panelists explored moving beyond the binary, the importance of representing everyone, and the implications of removing gendered categories. 

The panel was moderated by Lisa Kenney of Reimagine Gender (any pronouns). Panelists included Kia Brooks (she/her), Bliss Griffin, and Mars Rucker (they/them)
